Ethan's First B.B. Gun

I'm pretty sure this deserves its own post. As many of you know, my dad is the proudest card-carrying member of the NRA in the entire state of Alabama, arguably in the entire southeast, maybe in the entire country. If they ever take his guns away, he will leave the United States and go to wherever he and his guns can live together, and that is not an exaggeration. I grew up around guns...lots of them. Hunting rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. He carries a loaded pistol in every vehicle and probably has one in every room of his home. He never, ever kept any of his guns unloaded. "What the hell good is an unloaded gun?" was what he would say. Classic Billy Hendrix. I was taught to respect them, not fear them.

He bought Ethan this 70th edition Red Rider BB gun last year, but decided at five Ethan may be a little young for it. Six, however, was old enough! As a side note, he has also already bought Ethan a full-on shotgun, but has informed him he has to be nine before he can have that one. My dad was nine when he got his first shotgun, so I guess Ethan will be old enough at nine as well. I'm just glad David really likes guns. That can be their thing together. I like to shoot a pistol, but the rifles and such don't interest me at all.

So this is Ethan taking his very first shot with his very first b.b. gun. It's like Sara Katherine and her princess birthday party...a rite of passage. He's a very responsible little boy, thankfully. I see many father/son dates including this gun in David and Ethan's future.Dad teaching him how to load it.He's a natural! My little Annie Oakley. We wouldn't let her hold it by herself, and probably won't for a.while.

And for a trip down memory lane, Ethan's interest in guns began over four years ago...for proof see here (this post oddly enough was posted on my dad's birthday):
