It is not normal for our part of New Mexico to get snow in October, but here you have it anyway, on October 27. It was a freak show of nature. We have strange weather here almost all of the time, and this is a perfect example of that. We woke up to a thick, white blanket of snow, but the kids still had school, so they had to wait to play in it until after Ethan got home from school. It snowed hard and steady for hours, and I think we wound up with about three inches before it warmed up later that afternoon and began melting. It took a couple days for it all to go away. The kids had a blast, played in it until they were numb, then came in and drank hot chocolate with marshmallows.

I spent the day listening to Christmas music and burning Christmas smelling scents in my Scentsy burner. I was already over Halloween anyway by that point, so the pretty winter wonderland of snow did nothing to gear me up for the two Halloween parties we attended that weekend followed by trick-or-treating on Monday. I'm hoping for another white Christmas...this was a nice teaser! It finally feels like fall now, and I am definitely enjoying the cooler weather and the smell of smoke out of chimneys in the neighborhood. David built our first fire the night it snowed. I love fall!
The snow was wet, heavy, and gross. David would have gotten out there anyway and played with the kids, but I was content to stay inside with Elyse who was content to just look at it through the door with our next door neighbor's child.
I couldn't find Elyse, then I heard giggling from inside the cabinet. She loves to lock herself in dark, small places. She doesn't get that from me. She locks herself in the dark laundry room and I only notice she's in there because I hear her laughing to herself.
A lot of the snow had melted by the time Ethan got out of school, and thanks to our drought this summer, we just wound up with a big mud pit in our back yard. It was so gross. Ethan still managed to build a small snowman and get a few snowballs, though.

Our next door neighbors mean the kids have built-in playmates!
Elyse found Ethan's Mario hat from his Halloween costume and decided she wanted to look like a little Parisian baby. Cute, eh?

So cute and fun! I never really think of snow for New Mexico, but there it is... proof, I guess! :) Funny that E locks herself in tiny spots. She sounds like she's got a really cute personality.
